As the current creative director of Chanel and Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld has always displayed the knack for transforming and reinventing both himself and his brands to keep them up to date with the current moods of the fashion world.
After moving to Paris when he was 14 to follow his dreams of being in high fashion, Karl changed his name from Karl Otto Lagerfeld to Karl Lagerfeld to be more commercial.
Lagerfeld is a respected costume designer for his work on productions such as Les Troyens by Hector Berlioz at Milan’s La Scala theatre, Komödie der Verführung by Arthur Schnitzler at the Burgtheater in Vienna and Der Schwierige by Hugo von Hofmannsthal at the Salzburg Festival.
